12 Aug 2010: Gardline Environmental awarded wind farm support contracts

Gardline Environmental Limited (GEL) Coastal Service division, a Dedicated vessel service provider for the renewables sector, has been awarded four windfarm support contracts by Visser and Smit marine Contracting (VSMC) - a company specialising in subsea cable installation for the power renewables industry.

The work, which involves various duties, including crew and equipment transfers, will commence at the end of june and continue through to the end of 2010- VSMC is currently laying a number of subsea cables of the UK's west coast for the walney 1&2 and ormonde Offshore windfarms.

GELs recently purchased aluminium catamaran, the Gardian will undertake the initial project which is located in Heysham. Lancashire. At 21.5m in length. the Gardian is a multi-purpose vessel ideally suited for crew turbines transfers as well as providing a platform for marine mammal and bird surveys including mitigation work, all of which are essential during construction of offshore windfarms.

GEL is also pleased to announce plans to expand its fleet of aluminium catamarans with an additional three vessels joining the Gardian throughout the summer and autumn months.
