12 Aug 2010: Monitoring programme proves successful and minimises environmental impact

The project was finalised in July and involved Gardline Monitoring Programme which was designed to minimise environmental impact. The Project will be a key input to the field specific metocean design report and will be used to inform of any field development engineering.

Working within the anchor spread of the semi-submersible rig West phonex, Gardline deployed a Teledyne RDI Acoustic Doppler current profiler using a seabed mooring with biodegradeable concrete anchors supplied by EMGS ASA of Trondheim. Total provided the vessel for development and servicing opertaions - Eidesvik Viking lady - the worlds most enviormentally friendly ship, and the first commercial vessel with fuel cell technology.

Gary Thirkettle, of Gardlines Metocean division commented, "The Hild Fieldwork has been a fantastic project, bringing together the best technology throughout the supply chain in an efficient and environmentally aware manner, delivering quality data to time and budget. Gardline has also recently secured further significant north sea metocean projects for other customers that will see further investment and development of our capabilities".
